Our family is very thankful for the care and compassion the staff have shown my mom. The care aids in complex care, Fraser, Correna and Emma, just to name a few, have provided a level of care above and beyond.
The nurses are very attentive and all the staff are so friendly. Everyone greets my mom by name no matter where we are in the complex, making her feel seen and cared for.

At age 78 I didn’t see myself in assisted living. I was a healthy, active, very alive senior!
Then I fell, broke my hip and my life changed. After some due diligence my daughter- in-law found Nanaimo Seniors Village. The transition was fairly smooth given that we were moving from a large two bedroom house with a full basement, a huge yard and many sets of steep stairs. No place for me. The smoothness of our move was due in full to the attitude of staff here. There was nothing we asked for that was too difficult to do. When you’re dealing with staff who want to be here and have been her for quite awhile it makes sense. That speaks volumes for the employer and the employees.

The rooms are clean, efficient and easy to make homey. Modern washers and dryers on each floor. Weekly house keeping and bed sheet changes. The mini kitchen with sink and fridge is great for make snacks and morning coffee. With the quality of food in the eating area you won’t need a stove! The meals have been filling, nutritious and interesting. There is always a choice of main course, some of the best homemade soups I’ve ever tasted and there’s always a great dessert.

If you’re a card player then you’re in heaven. Also pool, snooker, dominoes, bingo, trivia. A twice weekly age appropriate fitness class. A gym room with stationery bicycles and cross trainer machines. Mats and free weights.

Entertainment – yup! There’s Happy Hour every Friday afternoon complete with live entertainment. Movie afternoons, monthly group birthdays with music and cakes. There are craft classes. If there is something special you want to try - just ask! There’s a computer room and a well stocked library

Eager for a change? Need a junk food fix? Pretty much all of North Americas fast food outlets are a very short taxi trip or walk away. The Village bus makes scheduled trips to the Mall. Got a green thumb? Come up to he 2nd floor and have a look at the garden and meeting area. There is a great in house hairdresser and a small general store

There is a lot to fill your day here. Meeting areas – yes - ask your friends to come over for a visit. If you’d rather just lay low and keep to yourself for awhile – no problem. No one is going to come along and force to you to participate!

We’ve been here 7 months and I know that living here is going to add many happy years to our lives.

When my elderly mother Yvonne (age 94 and a half!) made the decision to move into Assisted Living, she quickly chose NSV for its supportive and friendly atmosphere from the staff and residents alike. We very much appreciated Val's and Michelle's patient assistance during the entire process from the first tour, and especially during the move-in phase where the presence of Yvonne's youngest daughter was welcomed to stay with her to facilitate a smoother orientation to settle Yvonne comfortably into her new home. Jo and Anastasia, the friendly answer team at the front desk, and all of the NSV staff, deserve kudos for their kind care and attention. Smiles all around!

We are filled with gratitude to everyone at Nanaimo Seniors Village for the complete care, concern and expert advice with all the support and more for my mother-in-law, Kathleen. Val, Christine, Jo....all of you were instrumental and made everything so seamless for our very loved mom. 🙂 The food is excellent, the facilities are clean and bright plus there is a feeling of "welcome" everywhere. I am (we all our) so appreciative of the entire facility including how open to family and friends NSV has made us feel. Kathleen is cared for and loves her studio very much! This is exactly what she needed...a home of her own in a supported environment. I am a gusher and NSV has made this easy for me! A lovely facility that has care of seniors for all levels. Activities offered daily, there is a small bistro area and a baby grand piano in the front area of the assisted living building.

I recently helped a friend move her mom into the NANAIMO seniors village - assisted living wing. It was very hard for both my friend and her mom. Her Mom didn’t want to move, but she really wasn’t safe living alone any longer.
The place is beautiful, clean and open with lots of light - they have lots of activities for the residences - the food is good! And the best part is the staff!!! All of them!! - from Jason the maintenance person who helped me get rid of boxes and move furniture, to Val, Jo, Christine and others. They all went above and beyond to make this transition as easy as possible for both my friend and her mother, I cannot thank them enough for their kindness and generosity of spirit!
