Harry of California Senior Placement Agency helped me twice in placing my mother into assisted living facilities. I cannot say enough of how compassionate, thoughtful, and resourceful Harry was both times. A few years ago, he helped me to find a senior living facility when I had to move my mother in a matter of only two weeks because the current facility abruptly informed me that they could not care for her. It was an extremely challenging situation because this facility had asked quite a few other residents to leave immediately as well and so there was a sudden demand for other similar facilities. Harry quickly made appointments for us to tour potential residences in a matter of only a couple days. He also personally contacted the executive director of a facility who immediately offered us an apartment, which we ended up taking.

Remembering how capably Harry had helped me back then, I turned to him again to place my mother who had more recently progressed to needing a higher level of care due to her dementia. Again, Harry professionally assessed my mother's mental, physical, and medical needs and quickly found facilities that matched her needs. In the end, we selected Eden Villa of Castro Valley and couldn't be happier. Harry was also instrumental in negotiating a monthly rent that been fit my mother's finances.

Because Harry is very knowledgeable of the senior living facilities in the San Leandro, Castro Valley, and Dublin areas (and likely beyond, we were focusing only in these areas), working with him took a lot of the stress off me. I could rely on Harry to be professional, friendly, engaging, and empathetic. He responded quickly to emails and phone calls. Above all, though, what I most appreciated was his caring approach to helping my mother during such a challenging situation for an elderly person. I located my grandfather from another state, where he was lonely, and where I could not supervise his care. As a result of my grandpa's extensive and unique physical disabilities, most assisted living facilities here would not take him. It would have been impossible to place my grandpa in a good skilled nursing facility, because he has a tight budget. After doing research on my own, and having door after door closed on me, I found Harry. (After I found Harry, two other people highly recommended him to me, one from an Alzheimer's Association caregiver support group, and the other from a different caregiver support group.)

Harry helped me find an assisted living facility with staff that provide competent and compassionate care for my grandpa. Harry is very knowledgeable about the facilities, and he is very skilled at matching everyone with a facility that meets his/her needs.

Harry was also very patient with my grandpa and me as we made the decision to move to California. (It took over a year to happen!) Harry is very committed to his clients, which he shows through his responsiveness and kindness.

Where do I even start ... I had the blessing to work as a social worker for many many years and always loved being able to help a family in the hardest times, especially when placement was hard to find. Harry was a complete lifesaver for our family. Our grandmother, who had been in assisted living for four years, was not getting the care she needed with her advanced disability of congestive heart failure and short-term memory issues. During her stay at Beverly Hills Carmel nursing facility Harry was highly recommended by their staff. We did not know where to turn. Harry to the rescue! Harry is the "angel" you need when faced with the overwhelming task of finding a suitable alternative living place for your loved one when they can no longer live on their own. Harry came to our rescue when we were transitioning my father from a rehab center to an alternative living situation with less than a week to complete the relocation. Unlike the usual online places like "A Place for Mom", Harry literally held our hands and walked us through the process to find a suitable arrangement for my father rather than calling to ask us if we had arranged a tour of facilities we may have been interested in. He took the time to meet my father to get a sense of his personality and the kind of facilities that might be good fit. I wish we had known about him in our initial search as we felt a sense of relief the minute we met him.
