My mother was taken care of like she was family. The staff is amazing the food options were flexible and were very good compared to other assisted living experiences we had. The activities are engaging. The field trips were fun. And the rooms were very nice. My mother through the years stayed in 4 different facilities, some of which cost considerably more than Kendal but none had the quality of staff. My mother truly felt at home here.

From the people I know there, it seems they take good care of their patients, and they do serve interesting food there, personally I tried the shark.

I had 20 sessions of outpatient physical therapy, with 3 different therapists. I feel they did an excellent job. They were extremely caring and understood my unique circumstances. I feel they had my best interest at heart. Kendal was very clean and the staff was very friendly. If I would ever require therapy again, I would most certainly return to Kendal.

Very nice place, the people, residents AND staff, all seem very congenial. Easy smiles tell me everyone is being treated well. It's well maintained, clean and updated with a comfortable home atmosphere and great food. Worth looking into for future residency for my loved ones and myself.

My Father has had two stays for rehab. While the rehab is very good, it seems sporadic...at best. Our family has seen no - and had not been communicated with - systemic schedule. As for the nurses/aids you can walk the hallways (as I personally did) for an hour and not see a single one. And, NO they were not in rooms assisting others. At some point, you would have to see SOMEone change rooms, report to their station, etc. NOPE. I'm by nature, understanding, but the lack of communication by the staff is frustrating.

Retirement facility assisted living it's I guess a place to put your people if you don't want to keep them at home it's a nice place good good working community they work for the people and lots of interesting things to do there I'm personally and putting a new roof on it that's what I do for a living so that's why I go to so many different places and me and myself personally I don't want to get stuck in an old folks home but you know people do but when I see from this one is a good place

After making the decision to live in a continuing care retirement community, the search led us to the Kendal family. Kendal at Granville has been our home for three active years. We came here young enough that we are setting down roots and becoming Buckeyes. The location is perfect for visiting three of our four children. The fourth lives far from all of us. We enjoy the warm community and helpful staff of Kendal. A big highlight is no more house and appliance repairs for us personally. Our children keep thanking us for giving them piece of mind about our welfare.

We value every suggestion as an opportunity for improvement, so thank you very much for your recent review regarding potential risks for persons living at Kendal at Granville.

One of Kendal’s core values is to provide physical settings that are sensitive to the aging process and that enhance quality of life, security, and wellness. As you point out in your review, all of the individuals living at Kendal at Granville vary in age, size and personal preference/need. Thus our basic approach to design, finish, and fixed furnishings is to establish a standard baseline that allows for adaptability. Examples of this are offered below.

1. Kitchen cabinets are installed at a height lower than standard building code, and the interior of the cabinets allow for adjustable shelves. The top shelf can easily be lowered by our maintenance staff if desired.
2. To maximize storage space, we have found that many of our residents prefer a stackable washer and dryer. In instances where someone has a different preference or need, we replace the stackable unit with a different option, typically a side-by-side washer and dryer.
3. While grab bars in the shower have become standard for us, shower seats have not. Our experience tells us that most people would rather to have more space for mobility when showering. Having said, we willingly install seats and additional grab bars in resident showers if need be.

It truly is our aspiration to take a person centered approach in everything that we do, understanding that every person and every situation is different on some level. Feedback from others is critical to that aspiration. Thank you again for taking the time to draft and submit your review.
