ZERO STARS. DO NOT MOVE YOUR LOVED ONE HERE – ESPECIALLY MEMORY CARE!

1. The repeated lack of integrity and non-existent accountability to execute basic safety requirements, while a family member repeatedly reached out to an entire organization, including upper and executive management with cries for help and documented proof/pictures is appalling. Our mother fell 5 times in 4 days under Senior Star’s “care.” By the time we saw our mom at the hospital her face, head and knees were covered in bruises and she had lost her ability to walk.

2. The incompetence of the management team at the Dublin location is staggering. They lack proactiveness, empathy, a desire to provide a positive customer experience, and basic organization skills. They are so disorganized that they let a complete stranger walk into our mother’s room, dismantle her hospice bed and drive away with it. For many months in 2022, they completely forgot to give our father (with stroke history) his cholesterol medication. Within 12 months, we reached out to the local ombudsman twice for help.

3. They lean towards medication to solve problems. Staff encouraged more medication to "improve" our mother's behavior which triggered a downward spiral. After her doctor prescribed the medication, the third-party company Senior Star works with performed an assessment, which recommended MORE medication. Our mother was so over medicated on all the wrong medications (according to the local geriatric psychiatrist) that she went into psychosis and at 83 years of age had to stay in a psychiatric hospital for two weeks to remove all the medications from her body.

4. They repeatedly told us one thing, in terms of medical care and safety protocols for a high fall risk resident and did not execute what they said they would do. We installed a video camera which showed us a fall mat was not always placed by the bed, no-slip socks were not always worn, the telephone was kept out of reach and our mother crawled to her phone (photo attached), the bedroom door was kept closed at night, they repeatedly forgot to flatten the hospice bed for proper sleep, kept the TV volume blasting through the night and left the room lights on until a family member would call them at 1 AM asking to turn things off. This went on for months.

ADVICE: Do not move your loved one here. Find other places and do your research! Some positive reviews listed on this page are Senior Star employees. Put a video camera in the room and check the credentials of the employees giving medical advice. Periodically scan your loved one's medication list to confirm accurate dosing. Just because Senior Star is located in an affluent community, Dublin, Ohio, do not assume they’ll offer the best care.

I would highly recommend this community to anyone I know. The staff is extremely kind, compassionate and professional. Dionne, the Director there is always out and about and cares for every single resident and always goes out of her way to help. I see Betsy volunteer on weekends to make sure there is always enough staff to help. They reach to appropriate resources to make sure their patients are well cared for. I will always be a huge supporter!

The facility is beautiful and they decorate for the holidays. The staff are friendly and outgoing. The management has been very patient and helpful concerning some issues with our family member. There are many activities available such as crafts, OSU football, going out to lunch, live entertainment and more. My Aunt said their Reuben sandwich and the sweet potato fries are particularly good. Recommend.

I had time to come in and visit Dublin Assisted Living and Memory Support before volunteering on Easter. I was so impressed with the community and the staff. The community is inviting, from the moment you walk in. It’s bright and open. The spaces are large but not overwhelming. I felt like I was in a five star hotel and the staff didn’t disappoint. They were friendly and kind. They introduced themselves and welcomed me. I then had the pleasure of returning on Easter to volunteer with my wife who works in the community. We had the pleasure of working along side the dining staff to provide Easter lunch to residents and their families. It was a wonderful experience and I look forward to many more great memories being made at this community.

I have family here and am continually disappointed with the cost vs services provided.

For Independent Living you’re looking at around 5000 a month. This includes a mediocre dinner a day. It also includes a snack room with coffee and a few snacks.

Surprised that the only other included thing is room “cleaning”. Which is a one time a week sweeping (no moving anything just sweep around it). They also remove trash one time a week.

They appear to keep residents fairly engaged but it’s inconsistent and my understanding is that it’s somewhat repetitive.

The grounds are nice but the building feels dated. The walking trails behind the building are a saving Grace. Plenty of open air space for a walk.

Overall. Overpriced mediocre Senior care with a charismatic director who somehow keeps many of the residents happy enough to stay.

This facility was responsible for my mother's severe decline during her Alzheimer's. If I could give them a negative star I would.
In 2016 we toured the facility, it was lovely and sunny and new. The staff was friendly and smiling and understanding. They made all kinds of promises about including my mother in activities, welcoming committees to help her make friends, outings, and limited caregivers so she wouldn't be confused by strangers. Sounds good.
On September 28, 2016 Mama moved in. She passed their assessment for assisted living. They left her alone in her apartment, we found out later that sometimes she even missed meals. They allowed her to call me at night begging me to come get her instead of redirecting her. They were supposed to manage her hearing aids but many days she wouldn't have them- I would have to go to the nurse and TELL her where to look in the drug cart for Mama's hearing aids. Every time I went to visit she was sitting alone in her apartment. They didn't even help her work the remote!
When I complained they were not honoring their commitment, they told me Mama was difficult and needed to be moved to the secured unit. They wanted us to move Mama to a room that shared a bathroom with someone else. Can you imagine an Alzheimer's patient, advanced enough to be in a secure unit, being able to handle finding a stranger in her bathroom!?
By the beginning of November 2016 when we moved my mama to Sunrise of Dublin, Mama could no longer tell you if she had children. When prompted she couldn't remember our names.
I firmly believe Mama's decline was caused by the isolation she suffered. Dublin AL & MS advertise well but they actually have no concept of what is required for memory care. They have no business taking care of fragile elderly family members. No one should have to go through what our family had to endure.

My grandmother was being “taken care” of here. Her items went “missing” several times. Police say there is all kinds of missing items being reported here. There are thieves working here and management literally does not care. I’m betting people reading this have literally had the same experience. It’s not worth your money or your loved ones time. This place should actually screen their employees.

Through the Covid pandemic, community and social engagement has been so important. Hats off to the staff at Dublin retirement village. Not only do they provide excellent care but also a strong sense of community. There are so many senior living places to choose from that have really nice buildings and Starbucks in the lobby but when it comes to service and mental care of your loved one, this is the place to choose. Every one of the staff here operates on such a high level from the executive director on down. It’s no wonder that the residents there don’t ever think about moving because of the friends that they have made and the engagement they’ve had with both each other and staff. Hats off to you Senior Star for doing such a great job!

P.S. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention how good the food is here!
